Do I need a mechanical keyboard?
No. Your MacBook keyboard works beautifully. Toccado plays the switch sounds through your speakers or headphones, so any keyboard can have a little more character.
Will it work wherever I type?
Yes—in Teams, your browser, your editor, and other apps. Choose “Enable everywhere” in the app and allow Input Monitoring in System Settings. macOS may pause sounds in password fields.
What can my keyboard sound like?
Pick from 25 sounds: deep mechanical switches, bright clicks, Keychron K10 voicings, or an old-school typewriter. Adjust the volume, tone, and pitch until it feels right. Every sound is included, always free.
Does it read what I’m typing?
No. Toccado responds to physical key presses and releases without reading your text. It doesn’t save keystrokes or send typing data anywhere. Everything happens on your Mac.
How do I get started?
Download the free installer, open it, then open the app and pick a sound. This first Mac release still appears as Thock in Applications and Input Monitoring. It works offline on Intel and Apple silicon Macs running macOS 14 or later. The app and installer are signed with Developer ID certificates and notarized by Apple.
